NDSAC Interim Recommendation on Topical Minoxidil
A meeting of the National Drug Scheduling Advisory Committee (NDSAC) was held on June 11, 2017 with the following Interim Recommendation made:
• minoxidil, when sold in preparations for topical use in adults in concentrations of 5% or less, be granted unscheduled status, for human use only

Health Canada is advising Canadians that the unauthorized sexual enhancement product “Super Panther 7K,” labeled to contain a drug (yohimbe), may pose serious health risks. Health Canada seized the product from two Boutique Erotika stores in Quebec (11B St-Laurent Street, St-Eustache, QC, and 25 St-Georges Street, Saint-Jerome, QC).
Health Canada provides information on shortage of injectable sodium bicarbonate products in Canada
Health Canada is informing Canadians of the current shortage of injectable sodium bicarbonate product in Canada. Sodium bicarbonate is used in the treatment of a wide range of conditions including metabolic acidosis (buildup of acid in the blood), in open heart surgery, as an antidote to certain poisons, in cases of organ failure, and in some types of cancer chemotherapy. It is administered by health care professionals, usually in a health setting.

Unauthorized Matrix Red and White Vein Thai, and Medicine Man Lone Wolf kratom capsules recalled by RGR Canada Inc.
Health Canada is advising Canadians that RGR Canada Inc. is voluntarily recalling unauthorized “Matrix Red Vein Thai,” “Matrix White Vein Thai” and “Medicine Man Lone Wolf” kratom capsules. Kratom may pose serious health risks when swallowed or inhaled. The products were being distributed by RGR Canada Inc. for sale at various retail locations in Alberta, British Columbia and Nova Scotia.

These foreign health products have been found by regulators in other countries to contain undeclared drug ingredients.
The products are not authorized for sale in Canada and have not been found in the Canadian marketplace, but it is possible they may have been brought into the country by travellers or purchased over the Internet.
